STUDENT LEADERSHIP

Goal

Leadership gives kids ownership over their school; when they are in charge, they hold other kids and adults accountable to keep our school great. The leadership roles allow each child to exhibit our Core Values of Respect, Caring, Responsibility and Perseverance! Every student child has an opportunity to serve as a leader in and out of the classroom.

Kindergarten - 2nd Grade

We believe everyone is a leader! It doesn't matter how old you are or how big you are, everyone can be a leader and make a difference.  In the primary grades students are connected by having leadership jobs inside the classroom.

3rd - 5th Grade
Like high school sports and clubs, school-wide leadership jobs connect students to the school.  These authentic leadership jobs help students learn practical skills and help prepare them for an ever-changing world.

Leader In Me

A few years ago some of the Green Trails staff did a book study on the book The Leader In Me. Even Though Green Trails is not an official "Leader In Me" school, we embraced many of the leadership beliefs.  For example, we teach the 7  Habits to students and have a philosophy that everyone can be a leader. In 2013, we introduced school-wide student leadership roles and every 5th grader had the opportunity to serve as a leader outside of the classroom.  In 2015, we are expanding this opportunity to 3rd-5th graders.
